Omowunmi & Idehen: A Love Woven in Tradition.

Omowunmi, a proud daughter of Yoruba heritage, carried the grace and wisdom of her ancestors. Idehen, a noble son of Benin royalty, bore the strength and honor of his lineage. Fate brought them together, their love blossoming like the meeting of two great rivers.

On their traditional wedding day, Yoruba drums will beat, and the elders bestows blessings. Dressed in regal attire, adorned with coral beads, they will stand as a symbol of unity. Our Love Story

How it Started.

April 2015 — Ibadan, Nigeria.

We met at university in 2015, both studying the same course. At first, we were just classmates, navigating lectures and assignments together. But somewhere along the way, an unexpected “school mother and son” dynamic crept in—we are not entirely sure how this started but soon he was my Omonomose (my fine child) and before we knew it, we were inseparable.

David, in all his charm, had unknowingly (or maybe knowingly) swept me off my feet. Meanwhile, I had a not-so-secret crush on this fine Benin boy. I decided to test the waters and confessed to having a crush, dropping only one cryptic clue: my crush’s name started with “D.”

He being the playful mentioned every possible name except his own. Seeing as he isn’t mentioning his own name, I had to drop the pride and tell him straight up that “I like him” (Ladies, shoot that shot!)

And just like that, our love story began. Our bond was sealed when Nigeria’s NYSC miraculously assigned us to the same state, despite different choices—fate, or maybe he just couldn’t let me go!
